Yukiko Kuhara began her violin studies at the age of ten in Nagasaki, Japan. At seventeen, she won First Prize at the Art-Chef Competition and made her solo debut with the Boston Chamber Orchestra during its Japan tour. That same year, she was named a National Finalist in the Japan Classical Music Competition. Yukiko has participated in renowned music festivals and academies worldwide, including the Musique de Flaine, Taconic Music Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, Round Top Music Festival, and Meadowmount School of Music. In 2018, she performed Bruch’s Violin Concerto with the Queensboro Symphony Orchestra in New York, and in 2019, she was featured on WQXR’s Young Artists Showcase. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the Mannes School of Music in 2020, where she served as concertmaster of the orchestra during the 2019–20 season. As a former violinist of Trio Solace, Yukiko was awarded a Chamber Music America Ensemble Forward grant for the 2020–21 season. In 2023, she joined the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in Connecticut. Yukiko earned her Master of Music degree from the Université de Montréal, where she studied with Guillaume Sutre. Her former teachers include Takako Yamazaki, Seiji Kageyama, Sally Thomas, Wen Qian, Jennifer Koh, and Nancy Wu.
