Svetlana Garitselova is a versatile cellist with a particular passion for chamber music and
contemporary repertoire. She recently joined the cello section of the Binghamton Philharmonic,
and additionally performs with the Erie Philharmonic and the Syracuse Orchestra. During the
summer season, she serves as principal cello for the Wagner in Vermont festival.

She previously served as principal cellist of the Las Vegas Sinfonietta Chamber Orchestra, and
her diverse performance credits include the Nevada Ballet, Las Vegas City Opera, and solo
appearances throughout North America, Europe, Russia, and Japan. Svetlana has performed
alongside renowned artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Adele, Paul Anka, David Foster, and Daniel
Emmet.

As an avid chamber musician, she frequently performs for the Society for New Music. She
recently collaborated with flutist Laura Lentz on the album Serendipity, featuring a recording of
Missy Mazzoli’s Magic with Everyday Objects. Her performance on the album earned a glowing
9/10 review from Take Effect Reviews, which praised her "elegant cello" work and lauded her interpretation of Mazzoli’s piece as both “intimate” and “fresh.”

A dedicated educator, Svetlana is a faculty member at the Hochstein School of Music, maintains
a private studio in Penfield, NY, and coaches chamber ensembles. She has also served as an
Adjunct Professor at Roberts Wesleyan University.

Svetlana studied under Professor Victor Simon at the P.I. Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory,
where she won the 8th International M. Yudina Chamber Music Competition and received an
I.K. Arkhipova scholarship. She also holds a Master of Music degree from the Eastman School
of Music, where she studied with Professor Alan Harris.
