Violinist Sarah Briggs performs regularly with the Springfield, Berkshire and Vermont symphonies, at local colleges, and is a member of the Wistaria String Quartet which has played several programs at the Tuesday Morning Music Club, on the Brick church series in Old Deerfield and frequently at libraries, churches and other town venues. She enjoys playing a variety of genres in addition to classical, and recently collaborated in chamber concerts with saxophonist Felipe Salles at Bombyx in Florence, Ma, a CD and tour with jazz bassist Avery Sharpe, and at the Mosesian Cnt for the Arts with singer-songwriter Steven Santoro. She was a section violinist of the Charlotte, Colorado, and Utah symphonies, toured Japan with Chicago Sinfonietta, and subbed with the Chicago Symphony. She played concertmaster for the August 2025 Ring cycle with TUNDI Wagner opera in Brattleboro, and looks forward to Tristan and Parsifal this season. After living in Alaska and Germany, Sarah settled in Northampton in 2006, and has been a violin instructor at Amherst College since 2007. She has performance degrees from the Eastman School of Music and UT at Austin (MM) and was a fellow at the Tanglewood Institute, Colorado Philharmonic and the Bach Aria Festival.
