Joe Jewett started playing at an early age after a gift of of his grandfather’s violin. He attended the National Music Camp and Interlochen Arts Academy, where he received his high school diploma. Later he got a masters degree from New England Conservatory. Joe has performed across the United States and on several continents with the New World Symphony under Michael Tyson Thomas. He was also a frequent concertmaster and assistant conductor at the Spoleto Festival in Italy. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras in Massachusetts in Montana. Another career highlight was 11 years spent as a member of the Cascade Quartet, Montana’s String Quartet in residence. More recently, Joe started a nonprofit three years ago called Western Strings to support his teaching on Montana’s Crow reservation. He is a tenured member on Viola in the Helena Symphony, and performs with the Bozeman Symphony as a Violinist. He also now performs with the Butte Symphony on Cello.
