Chris Hunt began playing the horn in the 5th grade in Michigan, and grew into it as a teenager in Delaware. He earned his BA from Oberlin College, majoring in physics, but also taking full advantage of the musical opportunities afforded by the Conservatory; he went on to earn his MS in geophysics from the University of Minnesota. His first career, in the Midwest, was as a scientist (climate change and rock magnetism [!]). After moving back East, in 1995, he eventually became a supply-chain financial analyst at UNFI (a natural-foods distributor in New Hampshire).

Musically speaking, since settling in Brattleboro, he has been a stalwart member of the Windham Philharmonic and the Keene Chamber Orchestra horn sections, while occasionally subbing in other local ensembles (Chester Brass, Sage City Orchestra, Pioneer Valley Symphony). An avid amateur musician, he has also sung bass in various choral ensembles, from Oberlin to Philadelphia to Minneapolis to Burlington—and for the last three decades, with the Brattleboro Concert Choir and the Marlboro Music Festival Chorus.
