About me.

Korean American Tenor John Kun Park is rapidly gaining recognition for his “stentorian voice” equipped with his emotional depth and compelling stage presence (The Almanac).


John began his 2025-2026 with two major role debuts, the title role of Samson in Saint-Saëns’ Samson et Dalila (West Bay Opera), and B.F. Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly (Opera on the James). He was a guest artist with New Jersey Festival Orchestra's Holiday Tenors concert, and finished the season with his company debut with Opera Montana, reviving the role of Mario Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca.


Park’s 2024-2025 season was full of major role debuts, featuring title roles of Otello by Verdi (West Bay Opera), Manrico in Il Trovatore (Boheme Opera of NJ), Rodolfo in La boheme (Opera on the James), Loud Stone in Eurydice (Opera Grand Rapids), and the Daruma Doll in Both Eyes Open (Max Duykers) New Performance Traditions. He concluded the season covering the role of Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca with the Glimmerglass Festival.​​


​​​​In recent seasons, John has sung Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca (Opera Modesto), Erik in Der Fliegende Holländer (West Bay Opera), Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos (Berlin Opera Academie), Ismaele in Nabucco (West Bay Opera), Erste König in Der Liebe Die Danae (Pittsburgh Festival Opera), Tenor I in The Tibetan Book of the Dead (Opera Grand Rapids), Rick in I was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I saw the Sky (InSeries Opera), and Don Jose in Carmen (Central City Opera). At Lancaster’s Penn Square Opera for their Opera Couples Therapy concert, he headlined signature pieces and duets from Carmen, Cavalleria Rusticana and Tosca. John was also invited as a guest soloist with Mid America Productions at Carnegie Hall for Mozart’s Coronation Mass. John has covered Adolfo Pirelli and Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd with Des Moines Metro, and Canio in I Pagliacci with Opera Tampa.


John has performed with various other companies, debuting roles such as Siegmund Die Walküre, Florestan Fidelio LA Philharmonic, John Adams Gertrude Stein & Virgil Thompson’s The Mother of Us All, Anatol in Vanessa and the title role in Faust. He has also been a featured soloist with the LA Philharmonic, Chautauqua Opera and Sarasota Opera. He was a finalist for the Wagner Society of New York’s competition and received an encouragement grant, and is a recipient of the prestigious Olga Forrai foundation grant.
